Needless to say, we love gin, so it is only natural that we love gin cocktails!

As the season changes, we find ourselves looking to warmer, more citrusy combinations, and these are our top three gin cocktails for autumn.

Autumn Fizz

Autumn Fizz Cocktail With Rosemary

Named for the season, this cocktail features two of autumn’s star ingredients – apple and lemons. Related to the Gin Fizz (and similar to a Tom Collins), this refreshing drink has enough warmth for the cool change, while still offering a refreshing buzz.

Ingredients

50ml gin
15ml lemon juice
Sugar Syrup
Sparkling apple cider
Garnished with thyme and apple

Instructions

Pour gin in shaker, add lemon juice and sugar syrup, shake and then pour into a high ball glass and top with sparkling cider. Garnish with fresh thyme and an apple slice.

Aviation

Aviation Cocktail

A cocktail with a rich history, it has seen two major rises on the cocktail circuit. Once during prohibition when two of its ingredients – maraschino and Violette – were almost impossible to find, and again in 2003 thanks to a resurgence of vintage gin cocktails.

While not on many cocktail lists these days, we love it as a perfect all-rounder with a citrusy, floral base and a slightly sour finish, making it ideal for autumn.

Ingredients

50ml classic Aussie craft gin
20ml Luxardo or Maraschino Liqueur
20ml fresh lemon juice
10ml of Crème de Violette (or to taste)

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with a cup of ice. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and dash of Crème de Violette.

Gin Espresso Martini

Gin Espresso Martini

Combining some of our favourite things – booze, chocolate and coffee – the Gin Espresso Martini ticks all the boxes. It’s bold, beautiful and perfect to kick off or finish a dinner party.

Ingredients

1 part gin
1 part coffee liqueur
1 part of freshly brewed and chilled espresso
Ice
Grated dark chocolate

Instructions

Ensure you brew your espresso in advance to allow for it to cool down. When ready, tip it into a cocktail shaker with the gin, coffee, liqueur and a handful of ice. Shake as hard as you can for around 20 seconds to thoroughly mix and rapidly cool the ingredients. Strain into a chilled glass and top off with grated chocolate.
