TASTING NOTES
The Gospel Whiskey – Straight Rye Whiskey. 45% ABV
A classic rye with a very big nose. “Rye bread” is an almost universal tasting note here, but there’s also caramel, dry earth, dusty books, hint of vanilla and clove. The palate has baking spice, sweet oak and hard caramel. A powerful whisky, with a great structure. 45% ABV
Chief’s Son Distillery – The Tanist, Single Malt Sherry Cask Matured Whisky. 46% ABV
This extraordinarily smooth, sweet, yet rich whisky is forged by a long marriage of spirit in ‘double wood’, essentially using two types of oak barrels to mature the spirit. The early smooth honey, sweet vanilla and citrus character is derived from the harder American oak, whilst the bold rich flavours of stone fruits, dark toffees and old sherry come from the lush French oak casks. The rich, oily malts create a honey-like mouthfeel and a beautifully long finish. 43% ABV
Fossey’s Distillery – Single Malt, Port Barrel Matured. 44% ABV
Desert matured for 3 yrs, in a 50 yo Claire Valley crafted port barrel. Nose: Black cherry & concentrated fruits with a savoury hint, along with oak and roasted coffee. A touch of water shows more oak & citrus. Palate lightly sweet with dried fruits. Touch buttery with fine tannins, sweet malt and balancing white oak mid palate. Finishes long and lingering cocoa, raisins & a pinch of tobacco. 44% ABV
