TASTING NOTES
Tiger Snake – Rye of the Tiger 100% WA grain. 43% ABV
Part of the Great Southern Distilling Co. (Limeburners), this creamy and vanilla-forward rye whiskey is the ‘bourbon’ of Australia. The sour mash is crafted using a classic grain bill of corn, rye, malted barley, and occasionally the old hybrid grain “triticale”. All grains are sourced from within WA. Opens with a floral bouquet before a tasting hit with notes of vanilla-soaked hazelnut, caramel and a hint of zesty citrus rind. It is well textured with a smooth finish. An average age of 5 to 8 years. 43% ABV
The Grove Distillery – Corn Mash Whisky. 40% ABV
Award-winning and made in the traditions of Bourbon. Aged in small, 50L barrels to produce richer flavour. Small batch whiskey made using 70% corn, 20% rye and 10% barley. Authentic, traditional methods are used in brand new, customised charred American Oak barrels by Aussie coopersmith. The small 50L barrels give this a distinctively smoother quality to rival Bourbons aged 4-5 times longer than this 3yo. A warm toasted caramel aroma, leads to surprisingly smooth finish and balance of flavours. 40% ABV.
NED Whisky – Wanted Series: Honour. Limited Batch. 48% ABV
Aussie grain is transformed by a proprietary process, combining single malt with sour mash techniques; truly unique. Melbourne’s climate of all-seasons temperature variation, helps the whisky gain mellowness, moving slowly in and out of the oak barrel. Second fill barrels finished in new, heavily-charred oak. Aromas of coconut & vanilla, hints of stone & dry fruit, rich grain with hints of chocolate flavours, then dry at the end. The flavours are sweet oak, mocha, vanilla and dry coconut. the finish is spicy with a clean heat, smooth but powerful. 40% ABV
