London has been known for its cosy speakeasy bars for several years now. Head to Breakfast Club on Artillery Lane and whisper to the staff “here to see the Mayor”, get the OK from staff (in case it’s full) who will then direct you toward a SMEG fridge.

The Blind Pig isn’t too hard to find, but worth it. To get into Evans and Peel Detective Agency you have to make an appointment to solve a case – although if business is slow, they may see you – so just buzz, pop down the stairs to their office and chat about it.

Right now, there are more hidden bars in Melbourne than you may think, or even be able to find. The capital of tucked away places is regularly gaining a few more. Some of which want no publicity at all – so shh.

Whether it’s down a side street, an alley, upstairs, in a closet, inside a fridge or behind a bookshelf – they are all there somewhere.

One I went to a couple of times closed and I didn’t even know… Whether it’s down a side street, an alley, upstairs, in a closet, inside a fridge or behind a bookshelf – they are all there somewhere.

One is so small that it holds enough to count on two hands – and that includes staff – and it just won a prestigious award.

These are a few secret spots we can let out of the bag… but we do not want to make them too easy to find. Don’t be tempted to google them unless you are genuinely lost.
